ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) - The Salem Presbyterian Church held it's annual community Thanksgiving meal Thursday.

Church members offered a free lunch on china plates to roughly 200 people who gathered for the meal.

Organizers say the purpose is to feed those who are hungry and also feed those who are hungry for company and fellowship.

"We've had so many people come who said they don't have anybody else to eat with or it is just one or two of them," said Associate Pastor Janet Chisom.

"There was a gentleman who said he used to come with his parents and both of them have passed away, this is his meal and he is glad to be here."

The church also delivered 175 Thanksgiving meals to people who could not make it to the church.
