(WDBJ7)-- US Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine (D-VA) announced Tuesday that $125,000 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be given to police and fire departments in Virginia.
The funds are directed at improving emergency response times and overall safety in Augusta County, Halifax County, and the town of Glade Spring.
According to the official release, the breakdown of funds includes:
-$50,000 toward updated equipment for the Churchville Volunteer Fire Department
-$50,000 towards four new sheriff vehicles that harbor response times in Halifax County and pose a safety hazard to employees
-$25,000 towards a 2019 Dodge Durango that will improve the safety hazard to employees that an older vehicle presents
USDA's Community Facilities Direct Loan and Grants program is responsible for the funding.
