RONAOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) - On Saturday In Roanoke several local agencies collaborated for crime victim awareness week.
Groups like Roanoke police, EMS and the ATF were on hand to interact with and educate the community in downtown.
Some of the law enforcement officers involved say they also want to be able to emphasize and celebrate victim's rights.
"An important part of law enforcement is making sure we keep an eye on the victims of these violent crimes, locking up the offenders is only one part," said Tom Chittum, Special agent in charge of ATF Washington Field Division.
Chittum said they also wanted to use the day to help foster good relationships with the public.
