ROANOKE Co., Va. (WDBJ7) -- The suspect in a standoff with Roanoke County Sheriff's deputies has been taken safely into custody.
James Brickey, 50, was taken into custody around 1 p.m., authorities said. No shots were fired, and no one was injured.
Two family members were in the house with him, but both got out of the house safely before Brickey went into custody, police said.
There were weapons found inside the residence, police said.
Roanoke County Police report that the suspect is still inside the residence and they have not been able to communicate with the shooter.
Roanoke County is on the scene and are trying to establish a line of communication with the shooter.
Family members have been evacuated.
Roanoke County Police and SWAT units are on the scene of an apparent standoff in southwest Roanoke County.
Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 5600 block of Brahma Road in southwest Roanoke County at approximately 8:30 a.m., according to a news release.
Roanoke County Police, SWAT and negotiators are on the scene.
Family members in the area have been evacuated by police, the release added.
