ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) Hundreds of Roanoke City kids will have a colorful way to stay warm this winter.

The Roanoke Ski Club raised over 2500 dollars last month.

That money helped purchase nearly 140 new coats for elementary school students. The club unloaded the 23 boxes Wednesday evening at the school board office.

"For some the winter weather isn't as enjoyable as it should be because they don't have proper clothing, so it's a way to make sure all kids enjoy the winter and providing a nice warm way to get to and from school," Roanoke Ski Club President Marla Kemsey said.
