LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Pets and their owners were invited out to listen to bands and enjoy local food trucks at the Lynchburg Humane Society's first ever "Slobberstock."

Adoptable pets were featured as well.

The event serves as a fundraiser to raise money to help operate the shelter.

According to Development Director Julie Barger, "It goes to keep our center open, going to help us adopt and medicate all the pets we take care of. Almost 2 thousand 2 hundred I think we're gonna hit today, pets adopted this year."

The Lynchburg Humane Society currently houses over 500 animals.
