WEDNESDAY UPDATE

The driver of Tuesday night’s tractor trailer crash in Giles County, Alexander Rodriguez Botello, 25, of Las Vegas, Nevada, is now charged with reckless driving.

A state police spokeswoman says the crash was caused by driver inattentiveness and excessive speeding.

The passenger of the truck was released from the hospital.

State police say another unrelated wreck may have involved a wrong-way driver and a hit and run.

UPDATE: 10:48 p.m.

All lanes on Route 460 west appear to have reopened to let trucks through after a tractor trailer accident.

Route 460 east still only has one lane open.

WDBJ7 spoke with a Giles County couple who were here almost as soon as the crash happened.

"We were here before the fire siren went off, before fire trucks and everything, and there's a Jeep under the trailer up there," Nate Ellison said.

"We were trying to direct traffic to go back up wayside to get back up to get there back on top of the bluffs," Emma Ellison said.

They along with others have said there was a car driving the wrong way down the highway, causing the crash.

But Virginia State Police have not confirmed that information at this time.
