Suspect in Facebook phone scam arrested after turning self in

Lynchburg Police say Tykiem Hurt was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon.

He was arrested on the two outstanding warrants after surrendering at the police station.


The Lynchburg Police Department is asking for the public's help finding a man wanted for robbery and grand larceny.

Police say the case against Tykiem Hurt is related to his involvement in scams related to the sale of used phones set up via Facebook.

Lynchburg Police are encouraging people to conduct business only with verified businesses or trusted people. If people choose to meet in person to conduct business transactions, police recommend meeting in a well-lit, public place. Do not meet a person you don't know alone.
