The new procedure will require passengers to place all electronics larger than a cell phone in bins for screening. This allows for a cleaner x-ray image.

In 2017, nearly 4-thousand firearms were discovered in carry-on bags at airport checkpoints. Seventy one of those were in Virginia and 5 were in our region.

While guns are never allowed in carry-on bags, TSA is cracking down on security.

With an increased threat to avation security, Former Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly last year announced new security requriements for nealy 280 airports in over 100 countries.

The stronger security measures will not apply to passengers using TSA Pre-check lanes.

The demonstration is Tuesday at 2 p.m.
