RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Richmond Animal Care and Control is making license plates to honor the pitbull who was tied to a pole then set on fire.

To qualify to make '#TeamTommie' license plates, Richmond Animal Care and Control need to pre-sell 450 of the plates, according to a post to its Facebook page.

Once 450 are sold, a bill will be submitted to the General Assembly for next year's session. There, RACC hopes it will be designated as an official Virginia license plate.

If approved, RACC said the proceeds from the license plates will support the Tommie Fund, and will help animals across Virginia.

For more information about the license plates or to pre-order one, please visit Richmond Animal Care and Control's website.
