Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines music and dance into an eye opening experience. Roanoke Capoeira is a local group you may have seen at Local Colors.

The moves are designed to use momentum and leverage to strike and use evasive maneuvers like a cartwheel to evade instead of block an incoming attack.

Capoeira is meant to be fun and you will often hear the word "game" mentioned during the class.

Along with music and song you will play Capoeira or practice your moves. Instead of contacting the opponent it focuses on skill and technique.
