Tractor trailer driver killed in Memorial Day crash on I-81 S in Rockbridge Co.

State Police say the driver of a tractor trailer was killed in a crash on Memorial Day.
They say 44-year-old Mathew Dean of Live Oak, Florida, was driving a tractor trailer on Interstate 81 South in Rockbridge County around 12:30 p.m. Monday.
According to police, Dean made an unsafe lane change and hit an SUV that was in the left lane.
They say the SUV overturned, injuring the two people inside.
State Police say Dean's tractor trailer ran off the left side of the road and down the embankment into two trees.
They say Dean was not wearing his seat belt and died at the scene.
State Police say passenger in the tractor trailer, Dianna Dean, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The two people in the SUV were treated for non-life threatening injuries at a hospital.
According to state police, the tractor trailer will stay in the embankment and be removed by VDOT on Tuesday, May 29.
