Blacksburg man charged after running from deputies during traffic stop

The Giles County Sheriff's Office arrested a man after he ran away from deputies during a traffic stop.

The sheriff's office says it received a call Wednesday around 10:30 p.m. about a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road on Route 460 between Rich Creek and Narrows.

Authorities responded to the area and located the vehicle driving the wrong way on Route 460 West.

A deputy was able to stop the vehicle in Narrows, but the driver, Terry Lewis Hungate, 23, of Blacksburg, ran away.

Deputies later found Hungate Thursday at Burger King in narrows around 5:45 a.m.

Hungate was arrested on outstanding charges of misdemeanor destruction of property and misdemeanor assault out of Montgomery County. He was also charged by Giles County Deputies with reckless driving.

Hungate is being held without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail.

Authorities are still investigating and more charges are pending.
