Roanoke girls collecting money to feed homeless
Every day after school, Skye Barnes and Jahzari Jordan sit outside their homes on the corner of Oliver and Frontier Road in Roanoke collecting money to feed the homeless this Christmas.
The girls said it just came from their hearts and that they decided to do this because they know they can be really hungry and cold.
They aren't just donating the money, but they have made an exact plan of what to do with it once they reach their goal of five hundred dollars.
"Make sandwiches, put chips in, water and a snack, and once we put it in the bag, on Christmas we will pass it out to the homeless." said Barnes.
So far, the girls have collected almost two hundred dollars, and a lot has come from their teachers at Monterey Elementary School; even one of their old bus drivers stopped by to fund the cause.
"You made me cry, I swear to God, I was driving from here and had tears in my eyes", he said.
The girls will be out there every day after school until Christmas.
