Two dead after fatal crash in Buchanan Co.

The Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal head-on crash that occurred in Buchanan County on Sunday afternoon at around 12:30 p.m. on Route 460.
Officials report that a 2017 Toyota Rav 4 was traveling on Route 460 when it crossed the centerline and struck a westbound 2005 Honda Element head-on.
The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to catch fire and the vehicle was completely destroyed.
Officials have confirmed that the driver of the Toyota was an 81-year-old male. He was transported to Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tennessee for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The passenger in the Toyota, was identified as 75-year-old Billy Joe Carter of Grundy, Va. He was transported to the Buchanan General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Honda was identified as a 74-year-old female from Grundy, Va. She was transported to Holston Valley Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Her passenger, Charles V. Baker, 52, of Grundy, Va., died at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
