Two pedestrians flown to hospital after Pembroke crash
State Police are investigating a crash in Pembroke that led two pedestrians to be airlifted to the Roanoke Memorial Hospital Saturday night.
The crash happened along Route 460 near Mill Road around 7:07 p.m., Pembroke Police Sgt. Andy Schack said.
The pedestrians were in the roadway when they were hit by the driver of a Dodge pickup traveling eastbound along Route 460, Schack said. The driver of a Nissan pickup then rear-ended the Dodge.
The two pedestrians, a man and a woman, were flown to a hospital. They were in surgery on Sunday, but Schack did not have an update on their conditions.
Pembroke Police are gathering witness statements and reviewing video from the scene as State Police continue to investigate.
It is not clear at this time if any charges will be filed.
