(CNN) -- Tyler Perry’s newest role is Santa Claus, but this time it’s real life.
Perry provided gifts to some people in need in the Atlanta area. Baskets were filled to the brim at WalMart as parents were shocked to find out Perry paid their layaway.
The comedian and actor paid $434,000 worth of layaway items at two WalMarts.
"I just went to screaming and crying, and everybody at work was like, 'go get your blessing' and I was like, 'God blessed me today and I thank you Tyler Perry so very much,'” said parent Tracie Gardner.
Parents are thanking the actor for the biggest and best surprise they could have asked for ahead of the holidays.
