Unloaded gun found in vehicle at Rustburg High School

According to a post on the Campbell County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, an unloaded gun was found at Rustburg High School in Rustburg Friday.

In their post, the Sheriff's Office explains that the unloaded gun was found in a vehicle in the parking lot of Rustburg High School after a routine search by school administration.

According to deputies, the Campbell County Sheriff's Office currently has control of the weapon and the vehicle. The Campbell County Sheriff's Office is working with the school in this investigation.

Deputies say no one was near the vehicle when the weapon was discovered.

School officials and the Campbell County Sheriff's Office say they are committed to "a safe and effective learning environment for [their] students."
