Updates to Smith Mountain Lake State Park will include new cabins, trail

(WDBJ7)-- The Virginia Department of Conservation has announced that a future expansion plan for Smith Mountain Lake State Park will be unveiled at the end of September.

The proposed additions to the grounds will include a 60-site campground, 10 cabins, a new multipurpose paved trail, a revamping of the park entrance and a new picnic area.

The meeting will be public, and will start at 6 pm, September 30 at the Smith Mountain Lake State Park visitor center (1235 State Park Road, Huddleston).

According to a press release, comments and concerns regarding the new plans will be accepted through October 30 through email to bill.conkle@dcr.virginia.gov.

Each state park in Virginia has a master plan that is updated every 10 years.
