V-DOT pre-treats roads before snow storm

SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) - Virginia Department of Transportation (V-DOT) crews are ramping up operations to pre-treat roads before the storm.
They are putting down a layer of brine on many major roads throughout the region.

Crews are also putting on spreaders and plow glades to prepare. V-DOT will work around the clock and plow roads as needed.

"The pre-treatment is something that helps us when we start plowing, it actually prevents the ice and snow from bonding to the road service, so it actually comes up a little easier. It gives us a little bit of a jump start to get out there and start treating those roads," Jason Bond, V-DOT Spokesperson, said.

V-DOT asks folks to avoid travel if possible during the storm and park vehicles off of the street.
