A vacant home in Lynchburg caught fire overnight Thursday.
According to crews on scene, they responded to a call about a structure fire in the 2600 block of Lakeside Dr. at around 12:12 a.m. Thursday.
When crews arrived to the scene, they found the home fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews say the fire started somewhere in the back of the house and that the home was vacant. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about 45 minutes.
Crews left the scene around 3:30 a.m., but recently returned to the scene right before 6 a.m. to put out hot spots.
Crews say they do not yet know what caused the fire.
According to officials, one firefighter suffered from overexertion because of humid conditions.
