Union leaders say nearly 40,000 striking Verizon workers are heading back to work Wednesday.

That's after they reached a tentative contract agreement.

The deal includes 1,300 new call center jobs, along with nearly 11 percent in raises over four years and the first contract for Verizon wireless store workers.

Union members will vote on the deal after returning to work.

Employees in nine states, including Virginia, went on strike in mid-April.
