MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) Virginia State Police debuted a new safety video highlighting the "Move Over Law" Tuesday at Martinsville Speedway.

The video focuses on the importance of moving over if you see law enforcement, or other emergency vehicles pulled over on the side of the road.

According to State Police, 627 people have died on Virginia roadways so far this year.

"Many, if not all, of these tragic incidents could have been avoided, and those involved spared from injury or death, if the "Move Over Law" had gone heeded," says Virginia State Police Salem Division Commander, Captain Richard Denney.

All of the agencies present say they appreciate it when people follow the law, and move over, as it ensures they get home safely.
