Virginia State Police investigating double-fatal crash in Mecklenburg County

Virginia State Police are investigating a double-fatal crash that occurred around 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11 in Mecklenburg County.
According to State Police, a 2010 Buick Enclave was traveling southbound on Route 47 approximately three-tenths of a mile south of Twin Drive in Chase City, Va. when it crossed the center line and struck a northbound 1997 Ford F-250 pick-up truck head-on in the northbound lane.
The driver of the Buick, Julia H. McInturf, 64, of Chase City -- and the driver of the Ford -- Steve W. Parks, 64, of Chase City -- were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers in the Buick were transported to Southside Community Hospital with life-threatening injuries. There were no passengers in the pick-up truck, according to State Police.
All four individuals involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts.
The crash remains under investigation.
