The crash is still under investigation at this time.

The Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Augusta County.

Trooper AJ Garasimowicz was called to a crash on I-81 earlier today at around 11 a.m.

Police say a 2004 Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound on I-81, just north of the Weyers Cave exit at MM 236. The driver then lost control of the vehicle, causing it to run off the right side of the road.

The jeep crashed into an embankment, went airborne and rolled several times before it came to rest on the driver's side.

The driver was confirmed to be the only occupant in the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
