Virginia Tech student passes away Sunday night from major tractor-trailer accident in Pennsylvania

(WDBJ7)-- A Virginia Tech upcoming senior, Thomas O'Neill (20 years old), passed away in a huge incident that closed a major roadway (I-81) in Pennsylvania late Sunday night for six hours. The incident occurred at mile marker 83, I-81 Northbound where a tractor-trailer crossed the area of the median and hit 2 cars, including the driver side door of Thomas O'Neill's Scion. The driver of the tractor-trailer, and the other vehicle have no reported injuries.

The obituary for Thomas O'Neill says along with being currently enrolled at VT, he was also a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

A GoFundMepage has been started to support his family through this time of tragedy.

O'Neill was studying Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech.

Visitation services for Thomas will be held Friday, May 24th from 4 pm- 8 pm at Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home located at 11 Elm St., Nassau, New York.
