BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) People at nearly 50 universities across the nation protested President Trump's views on immigration.

About 100 people held a rally on the Drillfield at Virginia Tech Thursday afternoon.

Many were students from other countries.

Their message was of unity and acceptance as they shouted chants and held signs in the air.

"This is about love. There is no need for reasons to be divided. We want to be together," said Vahid, a Virginia Tech student.

Several faculty members spoke to the group about inclusion and promoting diversity.

The protest stems from Trump's executive order banning people from entering the United States from seven Muslim-majority countries.
