Virginian Fallen Firefighters to be Honored in National Memorial Service
On Sunday, October 6, the U.S. Fire Service will hold their 38th National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service to honor those who died in the line of duty in 2018.
Among the 92 firefighters who died last year, six were from Virginia. Those 92, along with 27 who died in previous years, will be remembered at the service at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
Their names will also be added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial at the Academy.
According to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, over 5,000 people are expected to attend, ranging from firefighters, families and friends to members of congress and Administration officials. Pipe and Drum units and Firefighter Honor Guards from across the country will also be participating in the service.
