ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) Local school systems have been collecting supplies for students who return to the classroom this month, but receiving the donations is only half of the equation.

On Wednesday, employees of Wells Fargo helped Roanoke City Schools organize all of those notebooks, paper and pencils.

It's a big job, but they told us they were happy to see a mountain of school supplies they needed to sort and bag.

Erica Chamberlain is a member of the /Wells Fargo Volunteer Chapter Board.

"It's actually inspiring," Chamberlain told WDBJ7, "because year after year that we've been here, it's just inspiring to see the generosity of the community and the donations that they've given."

About 1500 bags of basic school supplies will be distributed during the Back-To-School Extravaganza from 9 to 12 on Saturday at William Fleming High School.

The Back-to-School Extravaganza is open to any student in Roanoke City Public Schools. Transportation will be provided from several locations in the city.
