DUBLIN, Va. (WDBJ) Saturday, Dec. 8 is the wreath laying ceremony at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery.
Friday, over 50 volunteers spent several hours fluffing over a thousand wreaths. The wreaths were purchased through Wreaths Across America, but all of the money was raised throughout the year through community fundraisers.
Many of the volunteers say this is one way they can give back to veterans and their hometown.
"Many many of my volunteers have family members who are buried here or they are veterans that will be buried here, so they each have a real personal reason," Mary Lou Summers, Chairwoman of the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery Volunteers, said.
The community is invited to help lay wreaths on grave sites Saturday at 1 p.m.
