BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) The fire has been ruled accidental.

The cause of the fire has been ruled as electrical system failure.

The fire killed a 4-year-old girl on Jan. 17.

The father and two other children who were hurt have been released from the hospital.


Bedford County fire officials are holding a news conference at 2 p.m. Monday to discuss a January 17 fire that killed a 4-year-old girl and injured three others.

The child’s father was released from the hospital last week. Two other children are still in the hospital.

The Bedford County Department of Fire & Rescue is planning to release results of the investigation into the fire. They are also expected to discuss the “gallant actions” of first responders.

The fire in the 700 block of Grove Street happened in the early morning hours of January 17.
