WDBJ7 and WZBJ24 will provide exclusive media coverage of the commemorative events held at the National D-Day Memorial on the 75th anniversary of D-Day on June 6.

WDBJ7’s Jean Jadhon and Robin Reed will anchor the historic day on-location in Bedford. The ceremony will air live on WZBJ24 beginning at 10am as well as on WDBJ7’s Facebook page.

April Cheek-Messier, President of the National D-Day Memorial Foundation said this of WDBJ7’s coverage plan, "We are so pleased to have WDBJ7 as the media sponsor for this historic event. Between the live broadcast on WZBJ24 and the live stream on their Facebook page, we can ensure veterans throughout the country can watch the event from wherever they are and that those joining us will have all the recognition they deserve."

Dedicated in 2001 by President George W. Bush, The National D-Day Memorial has hosted hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the globe.

June 6 events will include an air show style flyover of refurbished World War II aircraft and a personal roll call of the brave veterans in attendance who served during WWII.

“Bedford, Virginia, lost 20 of the 32 local young men sent to the invasion of Normandy,” added Matt Pumo, WDBJ7’s President and General Manager. “As history happens in our backyard, Your Hometown Station is proud to capture the gratitude of not only this community, but of the entire nation.”

WDBJ7 is home to the region’s number one newscast in the Roanoke/Lynchburg Virginia DMA. WDBJ7 and WZBJ24 are owned by Gray Television, which has 145 television stations in 91 markets across the country.
