PATRICK CO., Va (WDBJ7) -- Authorities said a Martinsville man was arrested Tuesday morning after he was found hiding behind boxes in the attic of an apartment.
Jason Ramon Wooden, 36, of Hendricks Court in Martinsville was charged by the Patrick County Sheriff's Office with breaking and entering of a residence, grand larceny and obstruction of justice.
Wooden's was wanted for a residential break-in that occurred in the Five Forks area approximately three weeks ago. According to Sheriff's two other suspects have already been arrested in relation to the burglary.
According to Sheriff's, Wooden was found just before noon at an apartment at 104 West Blue Ridge Street in Stuart.
The sheriff's office said deputies heard movement in the attic of the apartment and they ordered that Wooden would give himself up; the apartment was evacuated and Wooden refused to comply.
After evacuating the apartment, deputies used a chemical agent and a tactical response team made entry to the attic space where they found Wooden hiding behind several stacked boxes.
According to the Sheriff, Wooden continued to physically resist deputies before he was finally handcuffed.
Wooden was allegedly avoiding arrest by staying at Julia Lucian Hutchens, 40.
Hutchens was also charged with obstruction of justice.
Wooden is being held at the Patrick County Jail without bond.
