Wanted man turns himself in to authorities

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WDBJ7) - Jesse Edwards, the man who was wanted for shooting and kidnapping, turned himself into the Rockingham County Sheriff’s office late Friday night.

The sheriff’s office says Edwards surrendered peacefully around 11:45 p.m.

He had been on the run after police say he kidnapped one person and shot another in Eden, North Carolina. That’s right over the Virginia state line.

Edwards is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, larceny of a firearm, assault by pointing a gun, and first degree kidnapping.

He’s being held at the Rockingham County Detention Center on a $3-million bond. He’s scheduled for his first court appearance on July 30th.
