LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Making college more affordable. That's a topic Virginia's U.S. Senator Mark Warner highlighted during a stop in Lynchburg Monday.

Warner started a two-day swing through our region with a visit to E.C. Glass High School. He was there to learn about the Lynchburg Beacon of Hope, a program that connects city students with college and career training opportunities.

During his stop, Warner talked about ways he's trying to address college affordability. He's working on legislation that would require schools to provide more information about the true cost of obtaining a degree and how much money the graduate can expect to make in their future career.

"We've seen transparency brought to the travel field, hotels, airfares. Shouldn't we have that same transparency in higher education?" Warner (D - Virginia) said to reporters following the event.

Warner also attended events in Chaham and Danville Monday afternoon. He'll be in Martinsville and Roanoke Tuesday.
