Washington and Lee students mark 9/11 anniversary with flags
Washington and Lee University students marked the 9/11 anniversary Friday.
The students went outside between classes to place scores of tiny American flags on the front campus. It was a joint effort of the College Republicans, College Democrats and the University's executive committee.
"The sophomores and the freshmen, they don't remember. They were 3 or 4 years old. And so for people without this kind of vivid, tangible memories, it's important to remember that, and kind of bring it back and realize it's not ancient history. It happened," Washington and Lee Chair of the College Republicans Caroline Bones said.
The flags will stay out through Sunday.
