The intersection of Commerce and Ninth streets in Lynchburg will be temporarily closed until further notice due to a water main break, according to a news release from the city of Lynchburg.
An underground water main break has been detected in the intersection, and crews for Lynchburg Water Resources need to excavate the intersection in order to locate and repair the break, the release stated.
The closure will remain in place until crews have fully repaired the break and restored the street for vehicle traffic.
All parking garages and parking lots with entrances off of Commerce Street and Ninth Street will maintain access at all times; however no street parking will be allowed in the blocks immediately surrounding the intersection. Additionally, Ninth Street between Main and Commerce streets will be closed to all traffic, including emergency services.
If you park in the Midtown Parking lot, enter via the Main Street entrance at 910 Main Street since the Ninth Street entrance will be closed, the release stated
