(WDBJ7)-- There has been a 98 percent reduction in deer collision in two sections of I-64 since 2017.
The Virginia Department of Transportation installed fencing at two locations in Albemarle County on I-64 two years ago with the goal to keep wildlife, specifically deer, off the interstate. In addition to the decrease of deer laying on the side of the road, VDOT has also seen a 500 percent increase in wildlife when these fences are in place.
