UPDATE: Roanoke man dies in Route 220 accident

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) -- UPDATE: 10/218
A Roanoke man has died following a crash involving a motorcycle and a truck on Route 220 on September 23.

According to the Roanoke Police Department, the driver of the motorcycle, Derick Wilson, 29 of Roanoke, died on Friday.

Police say speed appears to be a factor in this accident.

No charged will be filed in this accident.

A man and woman were taken to the hospital Sunday night after a crash involving a motorcycle and a truck.

Police said it happened around 8:00 p.m. on Route 220 between the Wonju Street and Franklin Road exits.

The motorcycle was changing lanes when it hit the back of a truck and lost control, according to police.

Officials said both the man and woman had serious injuries, but were in stable condition.

The driver of the truck was not hurt and cooperated with the investigation.

Several lanes of traffic are closed after a wreck on Route 220 in Roanoke County.

The wreck happened in the northbound lanes of 220 near the Franklin Road exit.

VDOT says the north left shoulder, left lane, right lane, and right shoulder are closed.

There's no word on the cause of the crash or the condition of the people involved.
