Young Entrepreneurs Academy to teach students to launch, run businesses

PULASKI COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) Middle and high school students in the New River Valley have a chance to learn how to start up and grow their own businesses before they even graduate.

The Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce is putting on their second Young Entrepreneurs Academy.

The 30 week program begins in November and will involve local businesses speaking with the students on how to succeed in the workforce.

The academy offers several life skills that organizers say is important to learn early on.

Chamber Communication Director and YEA! Program Manager Christiana Marjakangas explained, "If they want to own their own business it's really important for them to be able to talk with these business owners, figure out the challenges, and how to overcome those at a young age. Our youngest student was 11 and she completely excelled in the program."

Students wishing to participate this year must register by September.
