ACC suspends all athletic-related activities

UPDATE: Because of ongoing coronavirus concerns, the Atlantic Coast Conference has suspended all athletic related activities including all competition, formal and organized practice, recruiting and participation in NCAA championships until further notice.

ACC Commissioner John Swofford said, “This is uncharted territory and the health and safety of our student-athletes and institutions remains our top priority. This decision is aimed to protect from the further spread of COVID-19.”

UPDATE: The Atlantic Coast Conference has called off the remainder of its basketball tournament season.

That includes Thursday night's game in Greensboro between Virginia and Notre Dame.

The Big 12, Pac 12, Southeastern Conference and Big Ten Conference have also announced cancellations.

ORIGINAL STORY: In response to the rapidly changing circumstances of COVID-19/coronavirus, the ACC has announced it will alter the remainder of the ACC Tournament.

Beginning March 12, all games will be played with only essential tournament personnel, limited school administrators and student-athlete guests.

Broadcast television and media members with credentials are allowed to be present.
