SALEM, Va (WDBJ7) -- Salem blew out Amherst County in week one. The Lancers hoped to avoid the same fate Friday night.
The Spartans came to play. Already on top 7-0, Hunter Chaney hits Jorden McDonald on the swing pass and nobody's home. McDonald has nothing but running room and he houses it for 6 to put Salem up by two scores in the first quarter.
They were just getting started. The give here to Zavione Wood and he scores from short-yardage and it was 21-nothing Spartans.
A blocked punt comes next, and Cameron Martindale can't quite get to it but it's out of the back of the endzone for the safety.
Following the free-kick, they gave it to Jayden McDonald and he slipped around the edge and in for another score to make it 30 to nothing Salem.
Amherst struggled all night long, and the Spartans rolled to the 58 to 13 win.
