SALEM, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Appomattox County is looking to get back to the promised land with a fourth state championship in the last five years.
The Raiders will take on Stuarts Draft at Salem Stadium at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the Class 2 final.
Head coach Doug Smith says the experience of losing last year has helped his team move forward. "I think the biggest impact, though, has just been during the season, to be honest with you," Smith said. "Them realizing that they're only going to be as good as they make each other. And if we worry about last year, or we worry about tomorrow, we're probably not going to be that good. But if we can get better now and we can push each other to be the best we can be today, then everything else seems to take care of itself. The big thing is it's going to be physical. We're going to have to be physical and the kids, I know, are ready to do that. We're just gonna' have to make sure that the physicality matches our brains and make sure that we're making the right choices and decisions."
