Appomattox at Heritage
The Heritage Pioneers rebounded from a week one loss by blowing out John Marshall last week. Friday, Coach Brad Bradley's team welcomed Appomattox to City Stadium in what is ususally a pretty competitive affair.
Despite the weather, fans showed support for both the pioneers and the raiders.
Heritage receives the ball at the 35 and consistently runs the ball up the field. 1 yard away from another 6 points as running back KJ Vaughn gets it done.
Appomattox looking to get points on the board, throws it deep and with a tip of the ball, gets picked by Kaleb Adkock.
Raiders QB Tre Lawing makes plays with his legs down the field but Heritage sees what he's doing, applies the pressure, and turns this drive that could have ended in a touchdown into an interception.
Appomattox couldn't seem to get a break in the first half with 2 interceptions and this fumble recovered by the pioneers.
Coming out of the locker room, Appottomax is looking for some momentum.
Raiders, approaching the goal line and you guessed it, another fumble recovered by the Pioneers which sets up this play.
First snap, KeShawn Colbert runs from one end of the field to the other, ball in hand, for the touchdown. Field goal not good.
Appomattox not liking this hefty lead, Tyler Gilliam takes matters into his own hands.
He saw what Colbert did and wanted to do something similar.
Receives the kick return and decides to run it all the way for the touchdown to make the score 45 to 14.
Keshawn Colbert wants just one more touchdown and gets it.
The final score of this match is 52-14.
