Brad Barone called up to ECHL Norfolk

ROANOKE, Va. – The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs announced on Monday that goaltender Brad Barone has been called up to the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals. As a counter, Roanoke local Mark Shifflett has been added as an emergency backup goaltender.

Barone has appeared in three games for the Dawgs and has a 1-1-0 record with a 3.71 goals against average and .873 save percentage. The reigning SPHL goaltender of the year, he went 15-15-2 with a 2.93 GAA and league-leading .917 save percentage during the 2017-18 season. A Boston College graduate, Barone also spent time in the ECHL last year with both the Reading Royals and Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

The Rail Yard Dawgs return to action on Friday night in Knoxville against the Ice Bears. Puck drop from the Knoxville Civic Coliseum is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
