ROANOKE, Va (WDBJ7) -- At Patrick Henry's Merrill Gainer Field where the homestanding Patriots tried to get off to a 2 and 0 start against a Brookville Bees team taking the field for the first time this season.
It wasn't their hive, but they sure did play like it. Shutting out the Patriots 24-nothing in the first half.
We pick it up in the third, Zac Mann hands it off to trusty Ryan North who was unstoppable tonight. A 40-yard run earned them six for a 31-nothing lead.
But they can do more than just run. Check out this monster of a pass from Mann! Can't get much more perfect than that to Micah Glaize for another. The Bees piling it on thick.
Even from the other side of the field. The Patriots on the verge of a score, but the Bees were there. Leroy Thomas runs it but the play called as a fumble in the Endzone. That would be as close as Patrick Henry would get.
Glaize adding insult to injury with an interception in the fourth and the Brookville Bees would shock the Patriots with the shutout, 52-nothing.
"There's no way. If you had told me we were gonna win 52-nothing, no. Not what I saw on film," Brookville Head Coach Jon Meeks said. "I thought my guys just played incredibly hard. We had some breaks go our way. They had a couple opportunities to punch it in and we got fortunate bounces and that's part of the game. Things did go our way but as proud as I am of fifty-two points, I'm more proud of the shutout because the guys that they have on offense. I think I'm more proud of that than anything."
