Cave Spring at William Byrd

VINTON, VA (WDBJ7) -- The Brad Lutz era at William Byrd got underway Friday night in Vinton where the Terriers hosted their Roanoke County rivals from Cave Spring.

That Byrd defense got after Cave quick, Chris Hall gets stuffed by a gaggle of Terriers. Knights would punt away.

Byrd driving, QB Logan Baker hits Ethan Tinsley in the flat but the Knights defense answers right back, specificly Chris Hall. He's got a good memory. Byrd would punt.

Early on this one was all defense, see, Wyatt Early with another Dawg pounding on Cave.

Byrd making another drive as the first quarter winds down, Baker finds a seam right up the middle, bouncing off tacklers to a hard fought first down.

Second quarter, inside the 10, Baker rolls to his right and throws a dart to Ethan Tinsley who makes the tip toe grab for the score, Byrd goes on the board first, 7-0.

Next Cave drive, they would punt and yea I'm a little rusty with the camera, I missed Bryd blocking the punt but we pick it up with Hayden Lyle high stepping his way into the endzone to extend the William Byrd lead and they wouldn't look back.

The Dawg Pound proved to be stronger than the Knights, winning 42-21.
