DUBLIN, Va. (WDBJ7)-- Senior night for Pulaski County as they host Patrick Henry.
Week 10 Spotlight Game of the Week
Just a wet, cold and miserable night at Jack Hicks field, but the Cougars didn't use the weather as an excuse to put some points on the board.
Gage Mannon gets the score on their first drive and that's about as easy as it gets. The ten yard touchdown makes it 7-0 Cougars.
Next drive for the Patriots. Roy Gunn III with a deep pass towards the endzone. He finds Leroy Thomas for the score. It's 7-6, Pulaski after a missed extra point.
Cougars answer right back. AJ McCloud drops back to pass and finds E.J. Horton on the slant. Horton breaks one tackle, and he's gone.
Pulaski widens the lead to 14 and 6, and they were far from done with the scoring
McCloud gets the next touchdown, not with his arms, but with his legs. He just carries a defender into the endzone, making it a two-score game.
Another touchdown for six and the lead just keeps on growing. Patriots need an answer in the worst kinda way and they get it here.
Henry gets back on the board cuts the lead to three scores trying to inch their way back.
The Cougars pull away with Mannon's third score of the first half, making 42 to 12.
It was 49 to 19 at the half.
No one could get much going in the second half. 56-19 the final.
"Well we were able to move the ball on the ground effectively in this kind of weather you know it was pretty nasty. So being able to do that was obviously big for us. Well you know we've got to come back ready to work on Monday and we have to get ready for a good Salem team next week and we've got to be ready to compete," Coach James said.
