SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) -- The Salem Red Sox received a visit from quite the baseball legend this week. Former World Series winning manager and hall of famer Tony La Russa is now working with the Boston Red Sox.
La Russa signs autographs for fans at Tuesday's meet and greet.
La Russa is working alongside Dave Dombrowski as the assistant to the director of baseball operations.
WDBJ7 sat down with him today to learn more about the next step in his career.
"I signed right out of high school, never worked a day in my life. I've just been involved in something that I loved. Not being on the field, but still caring about winning and losing, that's what happens when you're upstairs. Dave Dombrowski and I go way back to the White Sox days. The Red Sox and is a great organization, but I love the passion of the Red Sox fans. So I'm having the time of my life, and we're off to a good start," La Russa said.
