SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) -- Today in front of family, friends and coaches, Rachel Millirons committed to running track and cross country for Radford University.

Not only is she not moving far from home, but she gets to keep the same mascot as a Highlander.

Rachel set a personal record just last week at the Buffalo Invitational in the 800 of two minutes, 31 seconds and a season record in the 1200.

"I'm really excited. I really like the school I chose. And I'm really excited for next year. I really love the coach. I had a good connection with the coach and that's what did it. I really wanted a coach I could trust and I really like because I'm gonna be running for them for the next for years. I'll always remember the state meets. Those were always fun. We always traveled and that was very fun. And just hanging out the team. I'll always remember my teammates," Millirons said.
